Chapter 46

“At least you had sense enough not to stick around.” Caiden started the car, pulled out of the garage onto the street, and headed toward the gallery.

“I’m good that way. Run, rather than face the fact something’s not working and try to fix it.”

“Were you in love with him?”

Theirn shrugged. “I thought I was, for all of a week. I finally figured out it was more to spite my family than real love.”

“Not a good way to be in a relationship, even under the best of circumstances.”

“No kidding.”

“Golf club?” Caiden asked.

“What? Oh, yeah. Told you this was an upscale area,” Theirn replied once he got what Caiden meant. “Keep going. We’re almost to there.”

Caiden saw what looked like a large, indoor mall up ahead to their right. When they were next to it, he noted small shops across the avenue, then saw the street he was looking for, turning left onto it. A block later, he spotted the gallery. “Where the hell do we park?” he grumbled, since there wasn’t a space in sight on the street.
