Chapter 54

“Spill.”

“I cast a Glamour on myself so he sees me as another one of the pedestals with a sculpture on it.”

“You can do that?”

“Caiden,” Theirn replied with a mischievous grin, “I can make anyone see anything I want them to. That’s what a Glamour spell does.”

“I am so keeping you around for any jobs I get sent on,” Caiden teased.

“I think I can deal with that,” Theirn said softly.

“Me too,” Caiden responded, resting his hand on Theirn’s arm. “For job and…otherwise.” He resisted flinching at the hope he saw in Theirn’s expression. It’s true, though. I think I do want him around—in my life. Now, however, is not the time to tell him.

Theirn quickly turned back to the laptop, chewing his lip. “Do you think he’ll realize there’s one more pedestal than there was when he checked out the gallery?”

“Best guess, he won’t even notice, because he’ll be concentrating on grabbing the painting and getting out of there.”

“But he won’t be able to, because he’ll be in my cage of fire.”
