Chapter 56

“You’re bonding with him?” Caiden asked Styge with amusement. “Should we be jealous?”

Styge’s ‘reply’ was to jump into Caiden’s lap and proceed to knead his leg. That earned him a hissed, “Your claws are sharp” before Caiden moved his paws. Styge crawled down beside him on the sofa, curled up, and closed his eyes—just as Gerben reappeared.

“The roofs are out,” Gerben said after reclaiming his seat. “But we can use the second level parking garage in the building opposite the gallery. I had a good view from there, and it’s fairly dark so we shouldn’t stand out. When we see Theirn’s fire cage, we’ll teleport in.”

“That works better than the idea of hiding somewhere in the gallery until Theirn tells us he has Leander trapped.”

“The only problem I see is my getting my hands on him in the seconds between you dispelling the cage, and his realizing he can teleport out of there,” Gerben said to Theirn.
