Chapter 64

“I suppose,” Theirn replied, lifting an eyebrow. “Doing what Leander did, before he decided being a real thief was a better option?”

Rian spread his hands. “That’s one possibility. We can discuss it, after dinner.”

Theirn had no real idea what Leander had done for Rian, other than helping catch art thieves. However he did it, it must have involved his being a shifter who can teleport, and that is not something I can do. So I’d be fairly useless. Yeah, they’re trying to come up with more busywork to keep me out of their hair.

He drank his beer, listening to Zander and Rian chat, until Zander announced that dinner was ready. In the dining room, Theirn noted the table was only set for three, which doused the last, lingering hope that Caiden might be joining them.

The meal was excellent and the conversations held Theirn’s attention as they involved books and history, two of his interests, so he didn’t feel left out.
