Can I do this? Theirn wondered as he got dressed the next morning. Will I be able to convince Caiden that we belong together? That I will never hurt him the way he’s been hurt before?

He had his doubts, but for damned sure he was going to give it one more try. He missed Caiden. He wanted what they had begun to build between them—the caring that might have led to more—before Caiden shut down and walked away from it—and him.

On the drive to Caiden’s home, Theirn came up with, and rejected, several ideas on how to approach Caiden. All of them required Caiden to actually acknowledge Theirn was there, rather than ignoring the doorbell or a phone call. One thing Theirn did decide. He would not drive right up to the house. Instead, he would park well out of sight and walk the rest of the way.
