Chapter 66

“Mind if I come along?”

“Not at all.” He grinned. “In fact, I insist on it. If we’re going to make this work, we share everything, including long walks in the rain.”

“The rain?”

“Yep. I predict it will start right about…now.” Caiden laughed when Theirn looked up and some raindrops spattered on his face.

“I vote we find somewhere dry, and I think Styge agrees,” Theirn said, as the cat made a mad dash for the house.

“Think we can beat him?” Caiden asked, grabbing Theirn’s hand and taking off.

“You’re out of shape.”

“Not even!” Theirn protested.

“Would you like something to eat?” Caiden asked, unlocking the back door to the basement.

Following Caiden inside, then upstairs, Theirn replied, “Definitely. I was so nervous this morning I didn’t eat breakfast.”

“About coming out here?”

“About seeing you, and maybe having you tell me to get lost and never come back.”
