“You can find your way out, I’m sure. I’ll tell Lee you stopped by.” Before I shut the door, I leaned back in and said, “Oh, and you’re welcome.”
An hour later, Lee found me working steadily at my desk, a perplexed look on his face warring with excitement.
“Carly said Wei was here. Is everything okay?”
“Sure it is. He came to see you,” I lied.
“Oh, man, I wish I’d been here! Oh well, I’ll visit him at the club tonight. Hey, why don’t you come with me and hang out for a bit?”
Hell to the no.“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why not?”
“You know we don’t really get along. I always seem to get on his bad side.”
Lee looked like he was searching for the right words to sway me. “What if I wanted to celebrate a job offer?”
“No, really?”
