“Are you my bodyguard now?” Not that I minded, much.I felt his presence was inevitable.
“You said it, not me.” I made an irritated noise and he snickered. “Actually, I figured out that taking the train would save me money on parking fees at the hospital. What they charge is outrageous.”
“Agreed.” It was another reason I didn’t want to bring my car to work. He sat beside me and I took out my cell phone to check messages.
“So, when are you going to tell me what you really do for a living?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.” I typed a response to an email from Paula.
“I see. Well then, in the meantime, care to join me for dinner?” He touched my leg lightly.
I shifted a little. “I have work to do, but thanks.”
“No worries. I’m not a quitter. I’ll keep asking until you say yes. I like to wear ‘em down.”
I smirked. “You’re quite good, but it won’t work on me.”
“Oh, I think it will. You like me, I can tell.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re dreaming, Lance.”
