Shortly after this, we left the restaurant, pleasantly full as we decided what to do next.

“So are you going to let me take you home with me?” Lance stared at me, salacious.

“Somehow I think you have ulterior motives.”

“Everything concerning you isan ulterior motive.”

I studied him for a minute. Should I let him? Did I even remember how to be with someone anymore?

“Don’t think so hard. If nothing happens, that’s fine, too. I’ll call you a cab, or drive you home, or you can crash on the couch. I’ll keep my hands to myself, maybe.”

I laughed. “Well, when you put it that way, how can I resist?”

He smiled broadly at me, took my hand to escort me the short distance to his place.

His condo was on the top floor. We had the elevator to ourselves, and Lance took full advantage by pulling me to his side and nibbling on my ear. I let him. After all, who was I to stop fate?
