“I take it I should park,” Daniel said, glad to note there would be just enough room to turn the car around when it came time to leave.
“It might be a good idea,” Griffin agreed. “Don’t worry, it’ll be safe enough here.”
Daniel saw why when they got out of the car and Griffin started to haul a huge dead branch across the road. “Need some help?” he asked.
“Nope. It looks imposing but it’s hollow inside. They both are,” he added, dragging another one onto the road, putting it on top of the first one to hide the car. Then he joined Daniel. “It’s not too much farther now.”
They got Daniel’s bag and backpack and Griffin led the way along a short, almost invisible path through the trees to his home. Daniel was surprised at the size of the cabin. For whatever reason, he’d been envisioning something tiny, perhaps one room with a cooking space off to the side. That was far from the case he found out as soon as they crossed the porch and went inside.
