Chapter 3

Once she came back from returning the jack, Moira wasted no time asking, “Alright, what is the deal with you two?”

“Nothing. Like I said, I had a crush on him in high school.”

“I can see why. He’s gorgeous.”

“Yeah.” Dustin sighed wistfully.

“Let me guess; he was Mr. Popular, captain of the football team, dated the entire cheerleading squad, and you were the shy, quiet, nerdy kid that he never gave a second glance?”

Dustin pulled out his box cutter and carefully sliced open the plastic. “Actually, no. He was running back and only had the one girlfriend for the last two years at school. I wasn’t much of a nerd, I was…doughy, and puberty didn’t treat me well. He and I were in honors chem together, so we were in the same study group once and he was pretty nice to me. But yeah, beyond that we ran in different social circles. I mostly drooled over him from afar.”

“So you don’t know if he’s really straight?” Moira asked with an impish grin.
