“Well, sir, that’s the thing. The defendant, Reverend Norris, claims that the counseling relationship had ended well before the, uh, romantic relationship started. In fact, Reverend Norris says a counseling relationship was nonexistent at the time.”

“What do you mean ‘romantic relationship’? Men like this do not have romantic feelings for one another, Noble. Men like this are out for one thing and that is pleasure. I’m surprised you’re bringing this up.”

“Well, sir, as you know, I do support the law, but I’m also partial to a fair trial for the accused. It seems like the deck might be stacked against the reverend.”

“That is not my concern, nor should it be yours, Mr. Noble.”

“But, sir, the reverend has been the rector at that parish for eighteen years. He’s had a stellar career, revived the parish.”
