“Thank you,” he said. “I need to make sure the verger is fed while the housekeeper is gone.”

“By tea time, I should have a schedule for you for the rest of the week,” Mrs. Kent said. He didn’t understand her and gave her a look that indicated so. “A schedule of which families will providing meals and housework help until Monday.”

“Ah, that is too kind,” Leander said.

“And we’d like to join you for tea this afternoon,” Mrs. Kent continued.

“That would be fine. We prefer tea at six o’clock,” he said.

“I’ll let everyone know,” Mrs. Kent said as she left.

“Well let’s have it. I’m starving,” Emil said.

They took the basket to the kitchen to enjoy the meat, bread, cheeses, and fruit Mrs. Kent had brought them.
