As he turned to go into the parking lot, his headlight shone over the side wall of St. Jude’s, spotlighting a guy in jeans and a navy hoodie spray painting in big red letters, Sutter’s Bay Is No Place For Fags.

“Son of a bitch.” Leo parked and flung off his helmet. He headed straight for the tagger, but the guy took off running. “Fuck!”

Leo bolted after him, but the guy was fast and was halfway down the street already. But Leo had been on the track team in high school so he started to gain on the punk. They’d past several houses when Leo was close enough to knock the guy to the ground. He threw himself at the dude and they crashed to the asphalted street.

The guy struggled underneath him and Leo pinned his arms back. “Fucker. Stop fighting.” And then he turned the guy over, the hood falling from his head to reveal the guy.
