Chapter 17

He went to the coffeemaker and poured the fragrant brew into a white porcelain mug sitting beside it, adding a large helping of the half-and-half beside it. Then he leaned against the counter to watch Leo.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” he mumbled after a few moments.

“No?”

“Well, I’m not sure you wanted to wake up with me in your bed.” Nolan felt himself blush even though Leo didn’t even turn from the pan. But really Nolan had no experience with this. Was it a one-night thing? And if so, didn’t the unwritten rules state getting out of the dude’s space as soon as possible?

“I didn’t mind.”

He swallowed. “Okay. You didn’t have to make breakfast.”

Leo shrugged. “I like to cook. And I like to eat. I figured you could use something, too.”

Instead of focusing on whether Leo expected him to leave or not, Nolan decided a change of subject might be in order.

“I, uh, well, I would have wanted to get home for the night,” he said. “Only because of my dad.”
