“What?”
He sighed. “I applied for an art teaching position at Orange Coast College.”
“Really?” She clutched his hand. “That close?”
“Yeah, I’m not going anywhere. I want to continue to help you, even if you do sell this place.”
She smiled. “That would be wonderful. I missed you when you lived away. I know it wasn’t really that far, but with traffic and all, well, it got to be kind of a pain to go see you.”
He kissed her forehead. “I know. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to make a quick phone call.”
She waved her hand. “Go ahead. Is this to Mark?”
“Yeah.”
“You really like him, don’t you?’
He nodded. “Yep, I really do.”
Drew walked back around the counter and slipped out the door of the shop. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky, but still the parking lot was nearly empty.
