“Then why are you…? Okay. Never mind,” Tino said. “You have to make a pretense of interviewing me, along with all the other people who were at all three of the parties.”

“Exactly.” Kingston said dryly, “I don’t suppose you’d be willing to hand over the items you’ve stolen, and then give up your cat burglary antics. If I had to guess, you’re only doing this as a way to add some excitement to an otherwise monotonous life.”

“If you’d asked a week ago, I might have turned them over to you. Now, they’re going to be put to good use.”

“Oh? How?”

Instead of telling him, Tino said, “I don’t suppose you know the names of some reliable fences, do you?”

Kingston broke out laughing. “If I did, do you really expect me to tell you?”

“It was worth a try.”

“You never said what you plan on doing with the money you’d make, if you did fence the items in question.”

Tino looked up at Armand. “What do you think? Can we trust him?”
