If that wasn’t the reason Armand hadn’t called, then the only conclusion Tino could come to was that the older vampire was regretting opening up about his feelings. He’s had second thoughts. He’s realized we’re too different and thinks things wouldn’t work out, but he doesn’t know how to tell me. If that’s it—I’m not going to let it happen.

Wednesday night, as soon as the sun was going down behind the mountains, Tino headed to Armand’s. He knew as he pulled up to the house that Armand wasn’t there—unless he was shielding, which seemed unlikely in his own home.

So he’s probably at the restaurant, or the gentlemen’s club. If he’s at the club, chances are I can’t get in to talk to him. Those places are pretty damned insular. If you don’t belong, or weren’t invited by a member, you’re shit out of luck.
