He had just passed Club Chevalier, debating momentarily stopping in to see if Maurice was around, when he felt the presence of another vampire. It was faint; merely a brush across his mind, but something about it tickled his senses. He couldn’t put a finger on why. His shields were up, so if it was the rogue, he wouldn’t know Armand was around.

Looking up at the buildings on either side of the alley he’d just entered, he chose one and was on the roof in an instant. As he walked from rooftop to rooftop, he looked down at the alley. The closer he got to the middle, the stronger the feeling became that he was not the only vampire there.

One of us, doing the same thing I am? Possible. He knew it wasn’t Tino. The link between them would have told him if it was, even with both of them shielding.
