“Lots of them are like, just finding a place to live here, or the next town over.”

“Chad,” said Dom, ready to impart some wisdom, “People are literally the same people they were in high school. And that’s the same with college, too.” It was certainly true when it came to Travis. Dom wanted to think it wasn’t completely true with him, but he figured if he analyzed it too much he’d only disappoint himself.

“I wanted to ask Lacy out again,” said Chad, staring sadly at his empty cup. “I’m, like, going places now. But she’s moving to New York. Friggin’ New York!”

“What, no one at college to ask out?” asked Dom. He checked his phone to see whether Kiko had texted him. Nothing new.

“I don’t know,” said Chad, sounding immensely disappointed. “I was going to ask this one girl out but then her boyfriend came to pick her up…I think some guy was trying to, like, get me to go out for coffee with him?”
