“I get it,” Kiko went on. “We’ve been together half a year now, that’s when it starts turning the corner into more serious territory. You’re not sure what you want. Are you asking the universe to give you a sign?”

“No,” said Dom, managing to shake his head. “I do know what I want. I’ve…been scared to admit it.” He swallowed. “I love you and I’d stay the rest of my life with you. But I can’t lose you, Kiko.”

“Then don’t,” said Kiko. He looked tired. “Come on. After nearly watching you die, my nerves could use some of Lucy’s cheap wine.”

Dom laughed at that and Kiko returned a grin. Relief began to wash over Dom. He hadn’t lost Kiko after all. But he needed to be careful. He was beginning to think that in the future they should try not to confront someone they knew was dangerous. He figured Kiko would approve of that.
