In a matter of seconds, Jason poured me coffee. “Ms. Vesda will be with you in a moment.”
“Of course.” I lifted the coffee cup from the table and savored a sip.
The moment turned into three moments alone on the rear patio. Eventually, Faye joined me, taking the seat across from me.
While sitting down, she said, “I’m so sorry about letting you sit here alone. I had to add some color to my cheeks.”
“No worries. You’ll be late for your own funeral, Faye. Both you and I know this.”
She scowled at me, but smiled, which I thought about as fake as her breasts. “So, you’ve met Jason. Isn’t he a delight?”
“Is he working out for you?”
“Better than I ever anticipated. I don’t even have to tell him to do things. He just does them. Whomever you know at China Kathleen’s Assistants, I commend them. They’ve sent me an extraordinary young man with many talents.”
“I’m glad you’re happy with him, Faye. He’s keeping our relationship intact.”
