Chapter 36

I could live without darkness. Snakes and other beasts didn’t appeal to me in the slightest. And, of course, claustrophobia could never be my friend. Being eaten by the cave, fully consumed by its darkness, I listened to rocks move around me, shifting and crumbling. Confident that I would live, taking Colby’s interest into more consideration than my own, I called his name out one last time.

“Boo!” Colby called into my left ear and scared the daylights out of me.

I froze, felt my heart stop, listened to my head ring with fear, convinced that I would die right there and then from shock.
