“I’d only have been using him, you know that,” Arik told him once he had his somewhat undivided attention again.
“Arik, if both parties are willing then it’s not using, as long as you make it clear it’s a one-time thing.”
“Aren’t you the cynical one,” Arik muttered.
“Not cynical. Realistic. I was watching him when you brought him upstairs last night. He’d have agreed in a heartbeat if you’d suggested going straight to your room.”
Arik sighed. “Yeah, he might have. But I wasn’t willing…I’m notwilling to hurt him that way.” He smiled wryly. “He thinks—because it’s what I told him—that I’m bi and generally prefer women. I want to leave it at that.” I should have said I was straight even if it would have been as much of a lie as implying I’m bi he admonished himself.
“Stupid, but it’s your choice.”
“Yeah, Rusty, it is.”
