Arik decided the best way to approach dealing with the life-sucker at the mayor’s house, if it was there, was to have John pay the mayor a visit. “Tell him you need to discuss…I don’t know. Something to do with…whatever,” Arik told him.

John nodded, barely smiling. “I never did tell him what I found out about you.”

“That should work then. Noah, you take the left side of the house, I’ll cover the right and the back. If I’m correct about the life-sucker, and I’m sure I am, it will sense that John’s a Seeker and will leave before he can see it.”

“And float right into our waiting arms,” Noah said, sounding uncertain if he liked that idea or not.

“If you see it, try herding it in my direction,” Arik told him. “Whatever you do, do not lose track of it.”

“This all sounds pretty iffy,” John commented.
