I think Angel realized that because she grinned. “You’re going to be a good asset to the team, Zane. I’m sure of that, now.”

When I went into work at the bar after my two days off, it felt like coming home. Garth greeted me like a long-lost son and the regular patrons acted as if I’d been gone for a month.

“It’s not like I don’t have two days off every week,” I told one of them.

“Yeah, but we know when they are and can plan accordingly, up here,” the guy replied, tapping his forehead.

I rolled my eyes and got back to what I was doing—fixing drinks and keeping an eye on the people to make certain none of them was over-indulging to the point where I’d have to cut them off. The life of a bartender, and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
