Chapter 42

“As a matter of fact…”

Mack could almost hear the wink in Seth’s tone.

“No, it weren’t. If I said it was would that make a difference?

“Seth, I…”

“Never mind,” Seth said. “I ain’t being fair ta ya. I know ya got other things in your business ta attend to. Me and Stallions and Studs ain’t the only thing that matters to ya. I’m sorry.”

Seth’s words had hit Mack deeply. Yeah, I got other things that matter, but you and Stallions and Studs are the mostimportant things ta me…especially you! Mack thought. But he couldn’t tell Seth that. Unless Mack could back it up with being willing to move to Idaho to be with Seth full time, it would sound hollow and insincere.

“I wish it could be different, Seth. Really I do,” Mack said, aware of how lame that sounded.

“Hey, I know ya do. I ain’t holdin’ it against ya. Well, I’ll let ya go for tonight.”
