Chapter 49

Lex looked around. He didn’t want to say anything too loudly. “I wanted to talk to ya about last night.”

“Nothing to talk about,” Trent said, not looking Lex directly in the eye. “Last night was last night. It’s over.”

Lex was relieved. “That’s great. I was worried that maybe you’d be ups—”

“I said it’s over. Just forget it,” Trent said in that same emotionless voice. “Now get outta my way. I gotta see my draw.”

Trent pushed past Lex and up to the bulletin board.

Lex let him pass. He stood and watched as his friend read over the list. When Trent found his draw, he turned, brushed past Lex, and started walking away.

When Lex caught up with Trent, he said, “You’re sure everything’s okay with us?”

Trent continued walking, still not looking at Lex. “We were drunk, stuff happens.”
