Chapter 50

Trent burst out of the bucking chute, his horse twisting and turning for all it was worth. Trent held on and was rewarded with a score of eighty-seven point five, the best of the day so far.

“Well, I’m up pretty quick. Good luck. Name’s Rio by the way. Rio Cody,” the man said, sticking out his hand.

The handshake was firm and steady. Somehow it made Lex feel better.

“Thanks,” Lex replied. “I’m Lex Cunningham.” Lex was strangely reluctant to release the man from his grasp. “Good luck to you, too.”

As Rio walked away, Lex followed the guy with his eyes. As he did, he caught sight of Trent jumping down from the arena fence and into a group of cowboys who slapped him on the back and congratulated him for a good ride. Lex turned away.
