Chapter 64

“Well, friend or no friend, it ain’t no win if someone gives it to ya that way. You’re a Boxwood, damn it! Time ya started ridin’ like one!” Caleb’s voice sounded menacing.

Before Lex could decide if he needed to intervene, he heard Caleb say, “Come on, I gotta be gettin’ back home. Let’s go to dinner and then I’ll be on my way.”

Lex leaned against the wall and waited a few minutes until he heard Caleb’s F-250 diesel start up. He came out of Imp’s stall in time to see the taillights disappear around the corner. He shook his head and walked back to resume his clean up.

Imp raised his head from his dinner.

“What’re we gonna do, boy? I can’t let Trent be beat down that way. Just can’t!”
