“Sure, I understand,” Tim said sounding disappointed. “It’s my ex, he—”
“Is he bothering you?”
“No. No, nothing like that. He’s missing. I think.”
“You think or you know. It makes a difference, Tim.”
“E-even though we broke up, we still talk at least once a week. We decided to try and stay friendly.”
“But…” Doyle said.
“But, it’s been three weeks and not a peep. I’ve called. A lot. Left messages. Texted him. Nothing.”
“Is he seeing anyone?” Doyle knew that this could just be a case of a new relationship making friendships with old boyfriends awkward to explain.
“No, not that I know of.” Tim sniffled and Doyle knew that Tim still had feelings for his ex.
“Why’d he break up with you?”
“Oh, he didn’t. It was me. I thought I needed space. Needed time to do some things that…” Time looked at his hands and sighed. “But that was stupid. Beau was the best person I ever knew. And I screwed it up and now he’s missing and who knows what can be wrong.”
