“Maybe,” Doyle teased. “I kind of like seeing you this way.”

To Doyle’s surprise, Kord didn’t object to what he’d said.

“This is getting to be a thing,” Kord said, struggling against his restraints.

“What?”

“You saving me. First the car, now this.”

“Don’t get carried away, big boy. Just doin’ my job.” But Doyle knew this was more than his job. He loved Kord.

“Looks like I was wrong,” Kord said.

“About?”

“A lot of things. About you…Even…about me.”

“You’re just saying this because I’ve got you hog tied and helpless.”

“No…no…well, maybe a little.” Kord chuckled. “You came through. You put your ass on the line for me and came through.”

“I tried to tell you all those stories about me were wrong.”

“You were right and I was wrong. Now untie me.” He wriggled his legs trying to get the ropes at his ankles to loosen. His efforts were useless.

“You said something else.”

“What’s that?” Kord continued his struggle against the ropes binding him.
