“Missed you too,” Mars murmured before kissing Dylan. “More than you’ll ever know,” he added when they parted.
Carefully, Dylan eased Mars against his chest, getting rolled eyes and an “I won’t break,” from his lover.
“I know but…”
“Dylan. Honest, I’m fine. Or mostly fine. I’m not ready to run footraces quite yet, but I’m getting there.”
“Or ride your bike.”
“Well, yeah.”
“Yeah you can? Or yeah, you can’t?”
“I probably can’t…yet. But it’s on my to-do list.”
“What else is on it?”
“Convincing Zavier I’m ready to go back to work. But that’s not happening yet.”
“It will. We’ll make him see you are.”
“How, Dylan?”
“Well, for starters, he doesn’t have to give us a dangerous assignment. Hell, the one I just finished? To be honest, it was pretty boring. Necessary, and with what I managed to find out we shut the dude down. But all I did was watch and listen.”
Mars snorted. “If you were bored, can you imagine how I’d have felt?”
