“Yep.” Sean glanced at him. “What did you do to end up in C21’s clutches?”
“Hardly clutches,” Ken replied with a laugh before telling Sean about the casino. “I’ve improved since then. Or rather, I’ve learned how to cover my tracks better.”
“Do you like working for Jonah?”
“Yeah. I’m not working for him, per se. He’s the handler for the men and women in his area of the country.”
“But you live at his house.”
“Nope, though sometimes I feel like I do. I handle the operations center, and—very rarely—get sent out as backup on a big job requiring more than a couple of operatives.”
“Bet you wife isn’t too happy about that.”
Ken shook his head. “No wife, no S.O., just me and my goldfish.”
Sean shot him a disbelieving look. “Goldfish?”
“Okay, I was kidding about that. I almost got a cat at one point but since I dospend more time at Jonah’s place than mine, I figured it wouldn’t be fair to the animal.”
“You’re a cat person?” Sean asked in feigned horror.
