“We eliminate you,” Jonah replied quite seriously. Then he smiled. “But that’s only if we think you might be a danger to us. Right now, you don’t know enough to make that a factor. If you told anyone, we would just deny everything, saying you were making it up to try to get out of being arrested. It would be your word against ours and who would believe a common thief?”

“I’m not common,” Sean grumbled. He didn’t think they would actually kill him, but…“May I think about it?”

“Of course. Take all the time you need. I have spare bedrooms. You’re welcome to use any one of them.”

“I’m a prisoner here?” Sean asked indignantly.

“I prefer the word guest.”

Sean snorted. “You do realize, if I can break in, I can break out as well.”

“He has a point, Jonah,” Ken said.

“Besides,” Sean said before Jonah could reply, “I can’t stay. I have Pax to consider.”

Jonah nodded. “The animal that was with you the first time we picked up on your presence in the area.”
