“Yeah,” she agreed. “About that.”
“Is it all right if I give your dog some meatloaf?” Callie asked Sean at one point.
He grinned. “Go for it, if you don’t mind having a friend for life.”
“I can deal.”
When dinner was over, Ken helped Paul clear the table. Vicki took Sean aside, asking quietly, “Before I show the two of you your rooms, do you want to share one?”
Sean looked at her in shock. “Do we what?”
Emmet joined them, saying, “That’s her none-to-subtle way of trying to find out if you and Ken have something going on between you.”
“Why would we? He’s straight. I mean, he is, isn’t he?” Then he shook his head. “I guess not, since she asked that.”
“Nope. He keeps it pretty hush-hush, but he is gay.” She looked at him questioningly. “You aren’t, I take it. I guess my gaydar was off this time. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”
“You didn’t, and I am. Gay that is. Not that I’ve had much chance to do anything about it, considering how I live.”
