Chapter 98

Still, he kept his voice barely above a whisper when Ken came over. “Keep an ear open, just in case. We don’t want any sudden surprises.”

“You’re not sure you took care of everything thing?” Ken whispered back in disbelief.

“There’s sure and there’s ‘I’m only human’,” Sean replied with a slight smile.

“That doesn’t make me feel all warm and fuzzy.” Ken moved back to stand in the doorway to the waiting room, his gun now gripped in one hand.

Sean went over to the other door, used the jammer, just in case, and then ran his fingers lightly over one of the fake bricks surrounding the door. He pressed an edge and it popped up, revealing a keypad. Using one of his tools, he determined the code and punched it in. The door opened, and he saw a small room with a desk and two file cabinets. A laptop sat on the desk. Sean debated turning it on, then decided it would be safer to let Ken work his magic and went to get him.
