“I think he’s got his own home, last I heard.”
“I meant…”
“I know what you meant. If he’s not still dealing with the cops, he’s probably already come by to pick up his things. He’s a smart man. He knows I won’t be letting you out of my sight until I know you’re okay.”
“Or…afterwards?” Sean said drowsily.
“We’ll figure that out in the morning. Now, on with you,” Ken replied when the elevator door opened.
Ten minutes later, Sean was undressed enough to crawl into bed. The last thing he remembered before he fell asleep was Ken curling up behind him, murmuring “Sleep well.” 10
Sean hissed when his body protested his trying to get out of bed the next morning.
“A hot shower will help,” Ken said from across the room.
“How long have you been up?”
“A couple of hours. Long enough to talk with Mars before he left for the airport with the others.”
Sean eased into a sitting position. “The guy we caught…?”
