Chapter 6

“Wow, a comic shop,” he said, seeing Marty in a new light. “I haven’t been in one of those in years. I used to love reading The X-Menwhen I was Micah’s age.”

Marty grinned. “That’s still a big seller, too. Whenever a new movie comes out, sales on all the Marvel titles go through the roof. Do you know they even draw Iron Man to look more like Robert Downey, Jr., now?”

Now therewas a topic of conversation that interested Rick. He took a step closer, as if that might help him hear Marty better. “Wait, what?”

Between them, Micah laughed. “My dad lovesIron Man! He thinks the guy who plays him is cute.”

“Micah, hush,” Rick said absently.

“Mom says RDJ is your boyfriend,” Micah continued.

Marty laughed. “Your wife sounds very understanding. RDJ is hot.”

Rick ran a hand through his hair, embarrassed. “He ishot, but he isn’t my boyfriend, and she isn’t my wife. And she shouldn’t be telling you these things,” he added to Micah. “You’re only eight.”
