Chapter 24

“Yes. New contracts and burgeoning interest in our products are at an all-time high, so I’m told by the head of Marketing. The numbers are very promising and over the next five years will net us a lot of revenue.”

“That’s great news!” I enthused.

Bridges merely raised an eyebrow. “Quite.”

He continued to update me on items of combined interest for our departments, and, I admit, my mind wandered a little. What kind of man was he, outside of work hours? Did he have a boyfriend? Who on earth could stand up to that kind of rigidity—finely packaged as it was—twenty-four-seven?

“Have you heard a word I’ve said?” Bridges asked, annoyed at my interruption.

“Yes, I have. You just said we have to hire more engineers. Anyway, you didn’t have that on your desk the last time I was here. I was just curious.”

“It’s also none of your business.”
