Chapter 45

“Hi, I’m Vic,” he said, indicating that Reggie should sit in the chair.

“Reggie, nice to meet you.” Out of habit, he offered his hand.

The makeup artist hesitated.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Reggie said, wondering if he did something wrong. “Am I not supposed to do that? You know, this is my first time at one of these…”

Vic’s face lit up and he vigorously shook Reggie’s hand. “You know, not everyone I photograph—athletes, movie stars—know what good manners are.”

With a sigh of relief, Reggie sat in the makeup chair. “Thank God. I was afraid I had started out on the wrong foot.”

“Don’t worry,” Vic continued, sitting on a nearby stool and looking in his makeup kit. “Just close your eyes and relax. I’ll make you look nice…well, even nicer.”

Reggie blushed as he obeyed, trying his best to appear as natural as he could. He felt Vic’s long, thin fingers caress his face, studying every angle of it. Then came the brushes, creams, and other things he wasn’t sure he wanted to know about.
