Chapter 51

“You’re going to see your special someone,” she said.

Reggie glanced at her, surprised. “You remember.”

“I have a very good memory,” she said, taking a magazine from the side pocket of her seat and covering her iPad with it. “So, you’re going to win him back.”

Reggie looked out the window. “Yes. Well, no, actually. No. I’m going to try to repair our relationship. Because he isn’t…well, I can’t have him like I’d like to. But I don’t care, it’s fine. I’ll be happy with being just friends.” A nervous laugh. “Or waiting on him hand and foot for the rest of my life.”

The airplane entered the runway. The pilot came over the loudspeaker to announce they were ready for take-off. Reggie’s leg starting twitching with nervous excitement and he looked around the cabin before he noticed the woman was watching him, puzzled.

“You’d accept just being his friend?” she asked. “To be with him even though he doesn’t love you back?”

“Sure, that’s love,” he replied.
