Chapter 50

The phone screen turned off. So Russell wouldn’t be picking him up at the airport. A feeling of disappointment enveloped Reggie. He’d imagined walking down the escalator to find Russell waiting for him in front of the exit, just like in the sappiest rom-coms. He put his phone away and fastened his seatbelt, hoping at least it would be only the two of them.

The idea of ending up in a Hollywood-style villa, full of people he didn’t know who drank, had fun, and stole Russell’s attention, was a punch in the gut. But then again, he was going to England, not California, and couldn’t guess what would happen in a few hours.

He shut his eyes and firmly grabbed the arms of his chair. He hated to fly.
