Chapter 4

“A guy like you has no plans for Thanksgiving?”

“That’s right. My family’s back east. It’s not really convenient for me to travel there for the holidays. Especially this year since I’m in a play at the Geffen.”

Casey recalled from their prior conversation that George was primarily a stage actor, though he’d done some work in the movies and television.

“Friends?”

“They have their own plans. So, as it happens, I’m free for Thanksgiving. All day.”

Casey exhaled slowly. Maybe this was going to go a lot easier and smoother than he had thought. “Then you agree?”

George took another swallow of his coffee as he seemed to be in deep thought. “Depends on what you’re offering, I suppose.”

“Uh, yeah. Payment.”

“Exactly.”

Casey traced his tongue along his lips as he considered it, a habit he couldn’t seem to break. “You do get a full meal of all the Thanksgiving trimmings.”

“Uh-huh. I generally get fed on a set, too.”

“Hmm. It’s just for a few hours, mind.”
