George smiled at that. “Actually, I don’t think that’s possible.”
Casey rolled his eyes. “Ego much?”
“Besides, a little cutie like you wouldn’t just have anyone.”
“A-A what?” Casey’s jaw dropped. “Did you just call me a ‘little cutie’?”
George took a long, exaggerated sip of his wine. “Come on, Casey. You know you are.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Casey turned away to hide his embarrassment. And anyway, George probably said that because Casey had said he was sexy. Maybe he thought he had to pretend to think Casey was cute. Whatever. He wouldn’t be fooled by whatever charm George turned on. This time.
“When does everyone else arrive?” George asked.
Casey nearly sighed with relief at the change of subject. “Between one and two. Since you’re here, you can make yourself useful by filling out this with your name.” He handed a blank place card to George.
George eyed it with no little amusement.
“What?”
“You’re just proving me right.”
