Chapter 29

Sebastian swept a glance around Devin’s pristine apartment and chuckled quietly. How stupid they were to think that they had been cautious in keeping Devin’s place a secret from him, and that hiding Devin someplace else could keep him safe. They also hadn’t stationed a cop to watch the apartment. Sebastian realized they mustn’t feel a need to do that since Devin wasn’t there anyway. They must have thought Sebastian was still hiding somewhere in the woods, when he had been much closer than they thought. He knew about the detectives. He knew about the older man who seemed to be very close to Devin. Sebastian also knew that they had been to Devin’s apartment to pick up clothes or water the flowers. Following someone around was easy, especially when they didn’t realize that they were being stalked.

And Sebastian knew sooner or later Devin must return to his apartment because who wanted to stay in a mental hospital, no matter how homey it looked?
