Chapter 16

“Trevor?”

“Tristan.” Simply saying Tristan’s name sent a pleasant thrill all through him.

“Tristan. Right.” She bounced her eyebrows like Groucho Marx. “Now if that man isn’t a fine specimen of the male form, then I don’t know who is. So, you spoke to him then?”

“Oh yes. He invited me to dinner. Can you believe it? He’s been flirting with me since day one.” Rain enjoyed Tristan’s persistence. Milo had chased him, too, but aggressively. With Tristan, the chase felt different. More like a game than a hunting match.

“Rain, you’re crazy cute, quirky, and talented and the kindest man I’ve ever met. Why the hell wouldn’t he flirt with you? Anyway, tell me—how was dinner?”

“No…I canceled. I don’t know why. Milo showed up this afternoon, going all King Kong on me, and—”

“Ugh. Fucking Milo. He doesn’t even give a shit about Pip. He only wants to keep a hold on you and uses his son as leverage.”
