“Well, look who finally decided to give me the time of day.” Markus laughed, but his voice had an edge to it. “What’s up? Why haven’t you called me back?”
Tristan looked out of his side window. The sun was shining and they were calling for warmer weather this weekend—the last of the summer. He couldn’t wait to spend two days with Rain. “Jeff’s put me on probation and I’ve been working like a crazy man,” he said. “But I’m sorry I didn’t call you. I guess I didn’t know what to say. How are you doing?”
“Fine. I’m great. Working over at Bell now. They hired me last week. Same old, same old, you know how it goes. Peddling their shit instead of Crystal Tel’s.”
“And everything else?”
Markus was quiet for a moment. “Everything is great, man,” he said, at length. “You? Where have you been lately? Hey, what happened to your Facebook page? Did you delete it?”
