Chapter 83

Tristan made his way through the small crowd in the room and stopped close to Rain, a smile playing on his sensuous lips. “What can I say,” he said, pressing his hand to Rain’s cheek. “You took us there, baby. Across the barrier and to the other side. And you were right. Once you’ve seen what beauty lives there, in that place we’re all so afraid of looking into, that space of truth, none of us want to crawl back into our lies.”

Rain put his arms around Tristan’s shoulders and pushed his face into Tristan’s shirt. He was exhausted. Completely spent. He’d given himself away to them all. “I couldn’t have done this without you,” he whispered, against Tristan’s neck.

Tristan kissed his hair. “Mrs. Brien says you don’t need to take the set down today. You guys can get some rest and come back tomorrow to clean up.” He pulled on him a little. “Let me take you home, Rain…okay?”
