“He should stay home,” Sage said adamantly, then lowered his voice again when the man in the chair next to his looked at him in surprise. “He needs to rest. You said so yourself, Brody.”

“He’s a cop. Rest is not an option, as far as we’re concerned.” Brody smiled grimly. “Well, I’m the exception at this point, but…”

“Not hardly,” Jon told him. “You haven’t stopped working since we met.”

Brody shrugged. “Mentally, yeah. Physically? Not happening.” He got up, because he’d been kneeling, too, next to Jon, and vanished.

“Where’d he go?” Sage whispered.

“My guess is, to check on Irwin.”
